It was super cold (like 48 F) so I went back to the house for gloves and a hat before braving the elements.

The flags for each branch of the military as well as the American flag are at the front of the memorial. I took this picture to send to a friend who is an Army vet.

I always drive by on the road, but never knew how deep the park went. I snapped this picture when emerging from the trail for the perspective.

At the entrance there is a monument for the NC Soldiers who fought in the Korean war. There are also names of the fallen engraved in the cement walkway around the monument.
There were lots of Camellia trees in the park. I was happy to see flowers in winter and had to take a picture to find out what kind of tree blooms in January!

The stream/creek is dry in many places, but looks like it is quite beautiful during the wet season—there were places were small waterfalls looked to exist.
