The Whore of Babylon

The Whore of Babylon is a term you may not find in these exact words, but references the woman described in Revelation 17:1. Some translations say the great harlot or the great whore, but I've always heard her referenced as "The Whore of Bablyon" in sermons so that's how I'll refer to her in this post. She plays a major role in end time prophecy and is one of the villains of Revelation. We'll get deeper into who she is… Read more »

Was the Exodus A Colonizer Story?

With the war in Israel/Palestine intensifying, my original episode kept getting overwritten with the question of wether the formation of ancient Israel was a colonizer story and how I felt about what happened then vs. what is happening now. This is a sensitive and nuanced topic so I did my best to articulate the thoughts that have been going in my head this month. Isaiah 1: Judgment for Israel is Coming

Introduction Isaiah 1-6  discuses the coming judgment of Israel, but parallels to modern Christianity can be seen in God's rebuke of Israel. Since Isaiah is such a deep book, I've decided to post by chapter instead of by topic to avoid making the posts too long. This post covers  Isaiah 1 . Identifying Isaiah Isaiah 1:1  identifies a prophet named Isaiah as the author of the book. Not much is known about Isaiah, but this verse gives us… Read more »

Deuteronomy 5-26: The Second Address (Part 1)

Moses' second address covers the 10 commandments, idolatry, the promised land, and more. The Shema is also introduced. In part 1 we will discuss chapters 5-12. Introduction The second address of Moses is the longest of the 4 addresses. It is also the address that contains a reiteration of the 10 Commandments. Though no location is specified, it begins with Moses calling the Israelites together, which is what separates this addres… Read more »
