SOAP Method | Study the Word

I wasn't always a freestyler when it comes to studying the Word. In the begining it can be hard to figure out how to study the Word (or even what to study). There are a ton of mnemonic devices to help you study the Bible. I plan to do a video summarizing 5 of them, but I also wanted to show you examples of them in use. The five mnemonics I will be covering are: S.O.A.P. F.E.A.S.T. R.E.A.P. H.O.P.E. E.A.S.Y. The S.O.A.P. Method S.O.A.P. … Read more »

Cross Referencing the Books of Law

Introduction In school, I noticed that teachers would often repeat the concepts they felt were most important, and became fairly good at predicting what would be on the tests based upon what was emphasized and repeated in class. Anyone who has read the Bible, even just by skimming, knows that God employs tons of repetition in the books of law (throughout the Bible actually). To get a better understanding of which concepts God emphasi… Read more »

Leviticus 6 & 7: Offering Laws

As with everything else in the books of law, for everything God commanded the Israelites to do, He had to provide a how-to and consequences for no abiding His instructions. The end of Leviticus 6 clarifies what is necessary for trespass offerings with respect to whether the sinner committed the sin willfully or ignorantly. Leviticus 7 goes on to provide additional information on the types of offerings listed in Leviticus 1-6. Read more »

Genesis 4: Cain and Abel

Genesis 4 covers the first murder in human history—the cause and the consequences.  Some time after Adam and Eve are expelled from the Garden of Eden, they give birth to Cain and Abel. We are told that Cain becomes a tiller of the ground (or a farmer) and Abel a keeper of the flock (or a shepherd). Most of Genesis 4 centers on these two brothers. 1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have g… Read more »
