Who
In fairy tales at least
For someone...
Some unflawed protagonist
Fighting against the odds
To overcome some
Ill suited villain—
Am I a villain
Certain in my imperfections
Covered in righteous desire
Plagued in human error,
And often falling short...
Have I brought upon myself
Wrath and deserving misery?
Punishment
For my transgressions
Wherefore I find
Forgiveness and salvation
Yet am lost on my way
To acceptance and sincerity
And wonder as I wander
Of the people I see,
Is there a villain in me—
Struggling soul
Pure in intention
Abashed by reality
Clinging to the offered hand
Dazed and confused
Impossible!
Could it be
Hidden under the cloak
Cast as minor,
Unimportant and Unworthy
Therein lies my character
Forgotten not by the hand,
But by you, the reader?
