I might have stopped for a chat,
Pulled up a chair,
Gazed out at the world
And opened myself to conversation...

We might have smiled
Shared ice cream cones--
Watched the sun bathe the sky
In shades of orange and pink
While we talked and shared
Connecting one life to another life.

Time might have passed us by,
As we sat under starry nights,
Contemplating the world around us
Exploring the highs and lows
Of a journey just began.

An unbreakable friendship
May have risen from the dust,
Created a bridge, free and strong...

And maybe life would have taken a different course
Or maybe the world would have fallen apart.
