Noah
Introduction
Noah is a direct descendant of Seth, and the son of Lamech. He is described as a righteous man and because of his righteousness, he finds favor with God. Noah is told of God's plan to destroy the world in a flood and chooses to follow God's instructions to build the ark. It is likely that Noah was met with great opposition and assumed to be crazy but he trusted God and was rewarded. Noah's family was the only family to survive the flood; thus we are all descended from Noah.

Character
In both the New and Old Testaments, Noah is portrayed and described as being righteous by virtue of having great faith. This is evidenced in his creation of the ark—Noah building an ark in anticipation of a flood when clouds haven't even formed in the sky would be like someone building a space battleship in anticipation of an alien invasion when we haven't discovered life on another planet. Never mind that majority of the people witnessing this would think these people are insane, the person building the contraption God as specified has to choose to trust God and focus their energy on God's work. Imagine Noah was a modern man, how long do you think it would take him to build an ark? How much would it cost? Would he have to keep his day job and work on the ark in his free time? Noah is a great illustration of dropping everything to do God's work. He trusted the message God gave him and didn't let the consequences of the world stop him from following God's command.
Descendants
Noah's sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth go on to populate the world. All of mankind is thus descended from Noah.
