Haunting Conversations
Replay in my mind—
Things I wish I'd said
Angrily spilling from my lips...
People I want to go back and shame
Blend with present people of less offense.
I try to let it go—
It's in the past and everyone has moved on;
But you never understood my anger
Expressed or unexpressed,
No conclusion was made, no treaty forged.
So I replay it in my mind—
Was I wrong? Was it you?
Why were things never resolved?
And this unfinished conversation lingers
Long after I've forgiven.
