Mutiny
The summer heat weighs
heavy on delicate curls
every strand revolting
every strand convulsing
feelings won't hide--
they puff up and out
angry at this heat
angry at this restriction
so they shrink back,
in defiance, in fear...
at war with nature
but at peace with
their own beauty
strong and stubborn
together strands unite
every strand for this:
a common purpose--
a chaotic end.
heavy on delicate curls
every strand revolting
every strand convulsing
feelings won't hide--
they puff up and out
angry at this heat
angry at this restriction
so they shrink back,
in defiance, in fear...
at war with nature
but at peace with
their own beauty
strong and stubborn
together strands unite
every strand for this:
a common purpose--
a chaotic end.
